Passive Core Cooling (PXS) Operation Continues
PRHR HX operation continues and In-Containment Refueling Water Storage Tank (IRWST) water reaches saturation as heat is removed from the reactor. IRWST water then begins to steam into the containment atmosphere.
At the same time, outside of the containment vessel, cooler air passes over the steel of the shell. The steam from the IRWST is condensed back to water once it comes into contact with the cooler steel of the containment vessel as cooler air passes over the outside of the vessel shell.
