Passive Containment Cooling (PCS) Actuation

Steam from the IRWST continues to increase containment pressure. At a certain setpoint, the safety related I&C system automatically actuates PCS.

PCS water flows by gravity from the Passive Containment Cooling Water Storage Tank (PCCWST), located on top of the shield building, to provide additional cooling of the steel containment vessel. The PCCWST has sufficient water inventory to support 72 hours of cooling.
